Meeting Minutes

PTC Executive Board Members:  Mary Hanson (Co-Vice President), Bethany Watchler (Co-Vice President), Jodi Blackman (Treasurer), Michelle Lewis (Co-Treasurer), Connie Dewey (Secretary), Jamie Ramsey-Dreher (Volunteer Coordinator), and Gary Etchemendy (Principal)



Welcome/Introductions               By:  Connie Dewey
·         Meeting called to order at 6:00 pm.
·         Introductions were made by all attendees and Board members

Teacher Report                                 By:  3rd Grade Team (Mrs. McAllister, Mrs. Brannin, and Mr. Manning)
·         Modern Biographies – All third grade students are reading Biography books 

What Was Ellis Island?Who Were the Wright Brothers? (Who Was...?)
·         
$500 from the PTC School Support Budget will be given to the 3rd Grade Team for the purchase of more books. 

Principal Report                               By: Gary Etchemendy
·         Developmental Assets – Discussed what Developmental Assets are, how they benefit our children, and how they are being utilized/taught at Englewood.  Developmental Assets are building blocks of healthy development.  These help young people grow up healthy, caring, and responsible.  Mr. Kanne worked with Mr. Ross to put together monthly themes for students.  Examples of Developmental Assets are active listening, asking different questions, encouraging friends in a variety of settings. 
·         Mr. Etchemenday also left suggestion cards on the tables for parents to list anything that they would like to see presented during the monthly PTC meetings.


Treasurer Report                             By:  Jodi Blackman
·         2015/2016 Budget – Once all of the income/expenditures were received over the summer, it was determined that there was a -$2000 difference from what was approved last spring.  The adjustment was made in the 2015/2016 budget by reducing the student enrichment budget.  Approval of the new budget was 1st motioned by Michelle Lewis with a 2nd motion by Connie Dewey.  The new 2015/2016 budget was approved with all in attendance in favor.

·         T-Shirt sponsor update – Michelle Lewis has raised $2150 in T-Shirt Sponsors.  The following sponsors are:

·         Mrs. McAllister will have each class put together a Thank you for our Sponsors.
·         Event day – 10/8

Book Fair
·         Book fair is currently only scheduled to be open before school and during lunch.  If more volunteers are available to cover more shift, the book fair may be open at other times.  Meagan Sanford offered to volunteer for the bookfair for one evening.
·         Book Fair dates - Thursday 11/12-11/18; Grandparent Lunch - Friday 11/13

New Business
·         A request was made for 2 additional 1st grade IPADS (one for each class).  IPADs were purchased last year for the 1st grade classes, however the class sizes were bigger than expected.  These will cost approximately $500 each. 
·         PTC is looking for a new Board President.  Amy Sargent was voted in as the Board President lat spring, however she accepted a position with Englewood and is no longer eligible to remain on the Board. 
·         Englewood will be getting a Community Garden this year.  Jodi Blackman and the school will be working with SKEF on the Garden.  The SKEF after school program will be able to maintain the Garden throughout the school year, however community volunteers will need to maintain the garden over the summer.
·         The BoxTops competition has begun and ends October 9th.  Last year, box tops brought in over $800 for Englewood.

Annual Pancake Breakfast this Saturday!


Englewood is holding our annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, September 26, 2015. Each year we look to our community to lend their support. This is always our first community event of the year and we could not do it without the generosity of families like yours. All proceeds from the event will be used to support Englewood School. Please bring donations into the office by Friday afternoon.Thank you for your support!
