The Importance of Fundraising
Every year there are questions regarding fundraising, some want to understand why we do it, and some want to know why so many. The best way to answer this question is to imagine a school year without fundraising.
The Englewood School Parent Club provides money for activities, supplies, programs, and fieldtrips outside of the school district’s budget. Without fundraising, there would be no money to fund any of the activities that we host each school year. Activities such as the Pancake Breakfast, Jog-a-thon (formally, Sports Fest), Winter Festival, Artists in Residence, Family Fun Night and Auction, OMSI Assembly, Writing Night, and Science Night to name a few. There would be no money for extra supplies in the classrooms, no money to help fund fieldtrips, no money to show the teachers how grateful we are for all they do with Teacher Appreciation Week.
The Englewood School Parent Club is a group of volunteers happily donating their time to coordinate fundraisers in order to enhance the learning experiences of Englewood students, faculty and families and to create memories that everyone in the Englewood Community will remember for years to come. To do this we need money, to raise money we do fundraisers.
Throughout the year, several different fundraising opportunities will be sent home with your child: The Pancake Breakfast, the Jog-a-thon fundraiser, the Winter Festival, the Family Fun Night, and the Family Night Out, where we invited you to come to a local restaurant, who will donate a portion of the proceeds. In addition, "Popcorn Fridays" occur all throughout the school year. The kids love having the opportunity to purchase popcorn while raising money for the school! At times, you may also see flyers come home for fundraisers at local businesses, restaurants, and retail stores. Finally, we participate in "Box Tops for Education" and the "Campbell's Labels for Education".
Over the past couple of years we have seen a major decrease in fundraising and volunteering. We understand that this is a sign of the times due to today's economy. However, we continue to fundraise as we are hopeful that the economy will recover and at some point, instead of making cuts, we will be able to add more programs for the Englewood community to enjoy. In lieu of, or in addition to fundraising, you can make a donation directly to the Parent Club and we will receive 100% of your donation! Thank you for your support!
Every little bit helps!
