SMART exists to give children the attention, self-confidence and reading skills needed to succeed in school and beyond. SMART volunteers contribute their time and talents to help us achieve this goal.
SMART Readers spend an hour each week during the school year reading one-on-one with 1st through third-grade children, modeling and fostering a joy of reading while supporting the child’s efforts to read independently.
If you would like to volunteer, you must fill out a volunteer background check through the marion county school district. You must also fill out a volunteer background check through the SMART reading program.
Just one hour a week can change a child’s future.
