Family Fun Night this Friday!

Family Fun Night is this Friday, March 1st. From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Englewood families, friends, and neighbors are all welcome to attend.

We are going to have a great time!
There will be food and drinks. Lots of games, a DJ, silly hair stylists, face painting, a fortune teller, and much much more.

There will be a flower pot auction, in which every classroom has decorated a different flower pot.

There are lots of raffle items and gift certificates donated by local businesses and families here at Englewood (keep those donations coming).

Englewood T-shirt will be able for purchase. You can preorder yearbooks.

We still are in need of more volunteers, food donations, raffle basket donations, and small prizes (candy, stickers, small toys). There are sign-up sheets in the office or you can email vounteeratenglewood@gmail.com

We can't wait to see you there!

Englewood Elementary Wins Exemplary Reading Program Award

Englewood Elementary was selected as the winner of this year’s Exemplary Reading Program award. The award was presented at the opening session of the Oregon Reading Association’s Winter Institute held in Portland on February 8.
Englewood was chosen by the association as a school that incorporates authentic and purposeful literacy instruction and a commitment to student achievement that leads to high standards for all.
In their letter announcing the award to Englewood Principal Katy Naff, the ORA said, "We applaud you for the collaborative and focused work you do to address the needs of your school population. Your dedication to literacy is apparent in a myriad of ways."
Englewood teachers are invited to give a presentation on how they successfully teach reading, and are also given the opportunity to present their program at the International Reading Association conference in San Antonio, Texas in April.
The school will also receive $500 to be used for a school-wide literacy project.
Congratulations!

Items donated in the past: Boardgames, Gift Certificate, Puzzles,Books, DVD's, Balls, Crafts/Arts, Pogo Sticks, Crayons, Kites. It can be anything your family considers fun and would like to win! The raffle will be held at the carnival. Please bring items to the classroom by Thurs., February 28th.
3. We need Prizes! For the game booths. These can be bags of individually wrapped candy, stickers, pencils, etc.
