Englewood Elementary Wins Exemplary Reading Program Award

Englewood Elementary was selected as the winner of this year’s Exemplary Reading Program award. The award was presented at the opening session of the Oregon Reading Association’s Winter Institute held in Portland on February 8.
Englewood was chosen by the association as a school that incorporates authentic and purposeful literacy instruction and a commitment to student achievement that leads to high standards for all.
In their letter announcing the award to Englewood Principal Katy Naff, the ORA said, "We applaud you for the collaborative and focused work you do to address the needs of your school population. Your dedication to literacy is apparent in a myriad of ways."
Englewood teachers are invited to give a presentation on how they successfully teach reading, and are also given the opportunity to present their program at the International Reading Association conference in San Antonio, Texas in April.
The school will also receive $500 to be used for a school-wide literacy project.
Congratulations!
